Meta ads book floor coating estimates when three things are in place: a before-and-after creative that only a homeowner would stop for, a landing page instead of the native lead form, and a call to every lead within one minute of the form submit. Get those right and 60 to 70% of leads should become booked estimates. Get them wrong and the budget disappears into clicks.

Why do most contractor Meta ads fail?

Most contractor Meta ads fail for one of three reasons: the audience is too broad, the offer is vague, or nobody calls the lead fast enough. The platform gets blamed. The setup and the follow-up are almost always the real problem.

Too broad. Ads aimed at "homeowners in my state" or "people interested in home improvement" pay for clicks from renters, tire kickers, and people two hours outside your service area. You want homeowners with a stained, cracked, or dusty slab who are ready to act.

Wrong offer. "Call us for floor coating quotes" does not stop a scroll. Nobody wakes up wanting a quote. Lead with the result and a visual: "Transform your garage floor in one day" next to a glossy before-and-after.

Slow follow-up. This is the big one. A Meta lead is warm but impatient. The homeowner who filled out your form likely filled out two more on competitors' ads. If you call the next day, the floor is already promised to another coater. Speed to lead decides who books the estimate.

Fix those three and Meta ads turn into a predictable stream of booked estimates. If a campaign that used to work has gone quiet, the same three causes are the first place to look, and we cover the diagnosis in why floor coating ads stop working.

What campaign structure works for floor coating?

Two campaigns. Not one, not five. A lead campaign pulls in homeowners who want a new floor, and a retargeting campaign pushes the ones who looked but did not submit.

SettingLead campaignRetargeting campaign
ObjectiveLeads (conversions on your landing page)Leads or conversions
AudienceHomeowners inside your service radiusWebsite visitors from the last 90 days
DestinationYour landing page with a short formSame landing page
CreativeYour best before-and-after, or video of the flake broadcastSingle image or short video with one clear call to action
Budget$20 to $30 per day to start$10 to $15 per day
RunsContinuouslyContinuously

The lead campaign is the workhorse and generates leads around the clock. The retargeting campaign is cheap because the person already knows you exist. If you are weighing this against search, Google Ads versus Meta ads for floor coating covers when each one earns its budget.

How should you target homeowners in your service area?

Draw a tight radius around the area you actually work, and let the creative do the rest. On Meta the creative is the targeting: a real garage floor with a fresh flake system gets stopped by homeowners and ignored by everyone else. With the right creative, 100% of leads can be homeowners.

Location. If you coat floors within 20 miles of the shop, target a 20-mile radius. Do not target the whole county or state.

Age. Ages 35 to 65 is a reasonable guardrail. Younger people are more likely to rent. It is a guardrail, not a strategy, and it matters far less than the creative.

Interests. Home improvement, garages and workshops, DIY and tools, and real estate are fine as a starting stack. Do not layer on a dozen interests and shrink the audience to nothing. Meta needs room to find the right people.

Exclusions. Exclude people who already submitted a form or visited your site recently from the lead campaign. They belong to the retargeting campaign.

Should you use a Meta lead form or a landing page?

Use a landing page. The native Meta lead form gets more submissions at a lower cost, but a landing page beats it on lead quality, and lead quality is what your calling team and your calendar actually feel.

The native form pre-fills name and phone from the person's profile, so a tap while scrolling counts as a lead. Many of those people barely remember submitting. A landing page adds one click of friction, and that click filters for homeowners who actually want the floor. Fewer leads, more booked estimates.

Keep the landing page simple. One before-and-after gallery, a clear "free in-home estimate" offer, and a form that asks three things:

  1. Name
  2. Phone number
  3. What floor they want coated (garage, basement, patio, shop)

The longer the form, the lower the conversion. Keep it short, then call fast.

Why does speed to lead decide whether the estimate gets booked?

A floor coating lead is worth the most in the first minute after the form submit. Called within one minute, about 90% of leads answer. Called an hour later, you are talking to someone who already scheduled with a competitor, and by the next day the lead is close to dead. Those numbers, and the rest of what a healthy funnel looks like, are on our floor coating benchmarks page.

So before you run a single ad, answer this: who is calling these leads, and how fast? If the answer is "me, whenever I get off a job site," your booked estimate rate will be a fraction of what it could be.

This is why so many floor coating contractors stop running their own ads and hand off the front end. Generating the lead is the easy part. Calling it within a minute, every time, day and night, and getting it on the calendar is where the money is.

What ad copy gets clicks?

Good ad copy has three parts: a hook that stops the scroll, one clear benefit, and a single call to action. The visual does most of the work.

Example, paired with a glossy before-and-after image or a flake broadcast video:

Homeowners in [City] are turning cracked, stained garage floors into showroom-quality coated floors in a single day. Full grind, full flake system, polyaspartic topcoat. Drive on it in 24 hours. Lasts for years and wipes clean. Tap below to claim your free in-home estimate.

This works because the floor sells itself, the benefit is specific (one day, durable, easy to clean), the offer is free and in-home, and there is only one thing to do next. You do not need to be clever. You need a great photo and a clear message.

How much should you budget for Meta ads?

Start small enough to prove the follow-up works, then scale.

To test
$15 per day for 2 to 4 weeks, or $420 to $840 total. You will get a handful of leads in most markets and know quickly whether your calling process holds up.
To run steadily
$30 to $50 per day. This is where most contractors should sit once they can call every lead within a minute.
To dominate a market
$75 to $150 per day. You become the coater everyone in the area sees, and volume climbs with it.

Do not start at scale. Prove you can book the leads you already get. Then turn the dial.

What good numbers look like

Judge a Meta campaign by what happens after the form submit, not by what a lead costs. These are the published floor coating benchmarks we hold campaigns to:

MetricBenchmark
Lead to booked estimate60 to 70% of leads
Phone answer rate90% when called within one minute
Show rate with no remindersAbout 80%
Show rate with a confirmation, 24-hour and 1-hour reminders, and a person triagingAbout 95%
Homeowner share of leads100% with the right creative
Close rateNo single benchmark. Depends on product and the estimator

Run the math on your own numbers. Say your average epoxy garage floor is $4,000. If 60% of leads become estimates, 95% of those show, and you close a reasonable share, ad spend ends up a small slice of the revenue it produces. If your lead to estimate rate is 30%, the ads are fine and the follow-up is the leak.

Track three numbers every week: lead to estimate rate, show rate, and close rate. Every one of them moves with speed to lead.

What mistakes kill a floor coating campaign?

No follow-up system. Decide who calls, how fast, and with what script before the first ad runs. This matters more than the ad itself.

No tracking. Install the Meta pixel on your landing page and track which leads became estimates and which estimates became jobs. Without that, you cannot tell a good campaign from a bad one.

No offer or visual. "Get a free quote" next to a logo does nothing. A stunning before-and-after next to "one day install" does.

Pausing too early. Meta's algorithm learns for the first week or two, and early lead costs run high. Pausing at day five kills the campaign during learning. Give it 2 to 3 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

How long until Meta ads produce floor coating leads?

First leads from a new floor coating campaign usually arrive within 3 to 7 days of launch. By day 21 the algorithm has settled and you have a clear picture of lead volume and, more importantly, how many of those leads became booked estimates. Judge the campaign on that booking rate, not on the first week's numbers.

Should floor coating ads use a photo or a video?

Video wins for floor coating. A short clip of the grind and flake broadcast, or a slow pan across a glossy finished floor, stops the scroll better than a still image. If you only have photos, lead with your single best before-and-after of a real garage, shot in good light, with the old slab clearly visible in the first frame.

What if Meta leads are not turning into estimates?

When Meta leads are not turning into booked floor coating estimates, the cause is almost always speed. The homeowner was called hours later and had already booked someone else. Tighten follow-up to one minute and the booking rate usually recovers. If leads are genuinely junk, switch from the native lead form to a landing page and put a real garage floor in the creative.

Can floor coating contractors run Meta ads year round?

It depends on the market. Florida, the Gulf Coast, and the Carolinas book floor coating estimates year round, so ads can run continuously there. Everywhere else, demand is strong from spring through fall and drops in winter unless you can coat in cold conditions. In colder markets, keep a small budget running in winter and scale it back up in early spring.

How much should a floor coating contractor spend on Meta ads?

Start a floor coating Meta campaign at $15 to $30 per day and run it for 2 to 4 weeks before judging it. That is enough to produce a handful of leads in most markets and test whether your follow-up holds. Once you are calling every lead within a minute and booking most of them, move to $30 to $50 per day and scale from there.

Get booked estimates without running the ads yourself

Meta ads work for floor coating when the setup is right and the lead gets called within a minute. That second part is the hard part, and it is why most contractors eventually hand off the front end. We run the ads, text and call every lead within one minute, and book the estimate straight onto your calendar. You pay $125 to $175 per booked floor coating estimate, plus ad spend you fund at cost, with no setup fee or retainer.

Run your own ads if you want to learn the game. When you would rather just show up and quote floors, book a strategy call and we will look at your market together.
