How Many Estimates a Week Does a One Crew Garage Floor Coating Company Need?

“How many estimates a week does a one crew garage floor coating company need?”

Take the number of floors your crew can install in a week, divide by your close rate to get estimates you must run, then divide by your show rate to get estimates you must book. As an example, a crew that installs 3 garage floors a week and closes 45% of the estimates it runs needs 7 estimates run, about 8 booked with a reminder system, and 12 to 14 leads to book them. Then put those estimates on one or two fixed blocks so they never eat an install day.

How many floors a week can one crew actually install?

Start with install days. Look at your last full month in season and count the days the crew was actually putting down coating. Weather, material runs, callbacks, and your estimate time all come out of the week.

If your main system finishes a two car garage in one day, one install day is one floor. If it needs an overnight cure between coats, each floor takes two days. Write down one honest number for a normal week in season.

Our post on how many floor coating jobs one crew can do covers monthly capacity and revenue. This page runs the other direction: from capacity back to weekly estimates and leads.

How do you turn floors per week into estimates per week?

Four steps. Use your own numbers where you have them.

  1. Floors per week.

The number you just wrote down.

  2. Estimates to run.

Floors divided by close rate. There is no single close rate benchmark for floor coating, because it moves with the product and the estimator. Use your last 20 estimates if you have them.

  3. Estimates to book.

Estimates to run divided by show rate. Our floor coating benchmarks put show rate at about 80% with no reminders and about 95% with a confirmation at booking, reminders 24 hours and 1 hour out, and someone following up when the homeowner goes quiet.

  4. Leads to generate.

Estimates to book divided by your lead to booked rate. The benchmark is 60 to 70% when ads are high intent, refreshed often, send traffic to a landing page, and every lead is called fast.

What does the math look like at three different close rates?

These are example numbers, not a client's results. Every step is rounded up.

530%17182226 to 30
545%12131519 to 22
560%9101215 to 17

Three things jump out.

First, close rate dominates. A 3 floor crew closing 30% needs 11 booked estimates a week. The same crew closing 60% needs 6. Our guide to closing more floor coating estimates is the cheapest capacity you will ever buy.

Second, reminders are free estimates. At 5 floors a week and an example 30% close, skipping reminders means booking 22 instead of 18. The no-show system post walks through the reminder sequence.

Third, the lead column only holds if you call fast and use a landing page. Slow calls and native lead forms mean more leads for the same estimates.

How do you protect install days when you are the estimator and the installer?

This is where one crew companies get stuck. The homeowner wants Tuesday at 11, which is the middle of a grind. Say yes and the crew loses half a day. Say no and the homeowner books someone else.

The fix is to decide where estimates live before the week starts, then only offer those times.

Whichever schedule you pick, a few rules keep it working:

  • Offer two times, not an open calendar. "I have Thursday at 4 or Thursday at 5:30" books faster than "when works for you?" and keeps you on your route.
  • Route by area. Stack estimates in the same part of town on the same block. Drive time is the hidden cost in a one crew week.
  • Qualify before you drive. Confirm the homeowner owns the property, wants coating work, is in your service area, and roughly knows what the job costs. Our benchmark for garage floor coating is $5 to $8 per square foot, and a two car garage is roughly 400 to 500 square feet, so a homeowner can hear a range on the first call.
  • Confirm and remind every estimate. The worst outcome is leaving the crew for an estimate where nobody is home.
  • Cap the block. If the block is full, the next open block is the answer. Do not break an install day for one estimate.

What should you do when you need more estimates than your blocks hold?

You have three honest options. Raise your close rate so you need fewer estimates. Add a second block and hand more of the install day to a crew lead. Or stop adding estimates and plan a second crew. Booking past your crew's capacity just pushes install dates out.

Frequently asked questions

How many estimates a week does a one crew floor coating company need?

Divide the floors your crew installs a week by your close rate, then by your show rate. As an example, a garage floor coating crew installing 3 floors a week at a 45% close rate needs 7 estimates run and about 8 booked with reminders. At an example 30% close rate the same crew needs about 11 booked estimates.

How many leads does a one crew epoxy company need each week?

Divide your booked estimates by your lead to booked rate. The benchmark is 60 to 70% of floor coating leads becoming a booked estimate when every lead is called fast and comes from a landing page. An epoxy crew that needs 8 booked estimates a week needs 12 to 14 leads at that rate, and more if leads wait hours for a call.

Should the owner of a one crew concrete coating company run estimates on install days?

Only inside a fixed block you chose ahead of time. Most one crew concrete coating owners either stack estimates on one day a week or hold two afternoons, and route them by area. Breaking an install day for a single estimate costs the crew more than the estimate is likely to return.

Does show rate really change how many estimates I need?

Yes. Without reminders, about 80% of booked estimates show. With a confirmation at booking and reminders 24 hours and 1 hour out, about 95% show. For a garage floor coating crew at 5 floors a week and an example 30% close rate, that is the difference between booking 22 estimates and booking 18.

Get the right number of estimates on your blocks

Once you know your weekly number, the job is filling the blocks with homeowners who show up ready to buy: fast calls, reminders, and honest qualification.

Appointly runs the Meta ads, calls every lead within minutes, and educates and qualifies the homeowner, and books confirmed floor coating estimates into the blocks you set. If your close rate is low or your crew is already full, fix that first, because more estimates will not help.

Book a strategy call and we will check whether your market is open, your weekly estimate number, and which estimate blocks fit your install schedule.
